Cat Food Maze: Challenge Your Cat’s Cognitive Skills
Don’t you think housecats these days are too spoiled and pampered? Us owners will bring them their food at regular intervals everyday while back in the day before they were domesticated, they had to work hard at hunting for their food everyday. Nowadays, we can’t even count on our cats to catch any rats that have happened to invade our homes. The solution? Make it a challenge for them instead of “spoonfeeding” them their food everyday! Cats have never had such an easy time in history when it comes to feeding themselves as modern house pets today.
This cat food maze will make eating treats and dried food a fun and interactive challenge for your cat. Instead of serving them food in a boring old bowl, the food pellets are placed inside that plastic container shown above with narrow openings that barely fit your cat’s paw and a multilevel maze with tiny openings for food to fall through. Since the cat’s paw isn’t designed to hold onto individual pellets, the cat’s only other option is to try to knock the food particles down to another level inside the container. The cat must figure out how to effectively knock the food pellets down the various levels of the container so that it eventually falls through to a white collection disc at the bottom where he/she can conveniently eat the food.
The rotating discs inside the cat food maze allow you to increase or decrease the size of the openings and hence the difficulty of the maze depending on your cat’s abilities. There’s also an opening at the top where you can pour dry food down into the maze which I recommend you seal off with duct tape if your cat’s head is fairly small and can just reach in directly to eat the food pellets at the top. There’s also an accu-pressure mat to massage your cat’s pressure points as shown above encircling the collection disc at the bottom.
